This is China: I got by with a little help from my friends

In a sea of people (1.6 BILLION), it's always good to see a friendly face or two.

Above are some of the high school students I met last year in Lingshan. Their campus butts up to a mountain with a large cave in it. The cave has been used for centuries as a place for worship, a place to carve poetry into the walls and even a meeting place for militias.

Above: Daneal and Vicki striking a pose. Below: This girl is actually a middle school student, but when she heard there was a foreigner on campus, she tracked me down. She was quite chatty, but her English was pretty good. She really wants to be able to speak English better, but there aren't many opportunities. However, I can get you in touch with someone who organizes trips to help teach students like her.

It was such a blessing to see them again and hear about their lives and their desire to see their American friends again. This picture was taken on a Sunday. Many of them skipped a study hall to come spend time with me. The high school students here go to school 6-7 days a week, start early in the morning by 7am and many don't finish until almost 10pm. School consumes their lives. Please pray for the students that they will actually have some time to enjoy their youth and not be stressed out by the demands of school.
