Hi, Jiap! Here's the report: Vespucci was born in 1454 in Italy. He explored under the flags of several countries, including Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Vespucci was the first explorer to make a distinction between the "New World" (ie, North and South America) and the Asian continent.

Martin Waldseemüller, a German mapmaker, honored Vespucci by writing "America" over the "New World" continents...and the name stuck.

There's your history lesson. Hope you enjoyed it! :)
