A couple of thoughts

We usually associate Easter with Christ's sacrifice- and surely the Easter weekend is all about sacrifice, but I think we can miss the sacrifice in Christmas. We are called to die to self, in a way, Christ also set the example of that when He relinquised His place and position in the eternal. Christ left the throne of heaven and earth and all creation to come to earth as a baby. He left the chorus of angles and a throng of praise, humbling Himself, the Creator in the image of the created.
Why the Word of God is good...
When Abram (later Abraham) was called by the LORD, he was commanded to "go to the land I will show you." Then, God made 4 promises to him, but God didn't tell him all the specifics. God didn't even tell him where he was going, just that God would show him where to go. Abram obeyed and went without a map, a gameplan or a resume- he went with his wife, his nephew, his stuff and a extra-helping of faith.

Later, Joseph (Abraham's great-grandson), was stripped, thrown into a cistern and then sold into slavery by his brothers. How is that for a bleak future? But we see that Joseph lived a life pleasing to God despite all the troubles he faced. Later, he would become the 2nd most powerful man in Egypt, save Egypt from famine and save his family including his traitorous brothers.

God has a plan. Do we have faith?
