Seattle Trip Part 1: The Zoo
Rufina and I just got back from an eleven day trip out to Seattle. While we were out there, we spent time with some of my family and met up with a couple of her friends for a backpack camping trip.
We stayed with my step-brother Joe, his wife Michelle & their son Cole for the first part of the trip. My dad and stepmom also flew out to Seattle for the trip.
We took Cole to the Woodland Park Zoo on our first full day there. Rufina and I caught Yogi... or one of his kin napping. Thankfully, these were the only bears we saw on the trip (see post to come later).

Cole seemed to like the zoo and related well to some of the animals that were full of energy. The real gorillas were busy squatting in front of us to relieve themselves, so we decided it was a safer (and better?) photo op with the bronze statues.

The lions sleep tonight... er, today.

After being tuckered out- I mean the adults, not Cole- we had lunch at the piers in downtown Seattle. While the skies may look like what you would expect from Seattle, we actually had wonderful weather for most of the trip and it only rained a little on this day and another the next week.

We really appreciate Joe & Michelle's kindness to put us up in their home for several days.
Up next: Day trip to Twin Peaks territory.
