From Brother Lawrence

I read this the other day in "The Practice of the Presence of God" and thought is was worth sharing:

God does not ask much of you. But remembering Him, praising Him, asking for His grace, offering Him your troubles, or thanking Him for what He has given you will console you all the time. During your meals or during any daily duty, lift your heart up to Him, because even the least little remembrance will please Him. You don't have to pray out loud; He's nearer than you can imagine.

It isn't necessary that we stay in church in order to remain in God's presence. We can make our hearts personal chapels where we can enter anytime to talk to God privately. These conversations can be so loving and gentle, and anyone can have them.

Is there any reason not to begin? He may be waiting for us to take the first step. Because we have such a short time to live, we should spend our remaining time with God. Even suffering will be easier when we are with Him, but without Him, even the greatest pleasures will be joyless. May He be blessed in everything!

Gradually train yourself to show your love for Him by asking for His grace. Offer your heart to Him at every moment. Don't restrict your love of Him with rules or special devotions. Go out in faith, with love and humility.

Life is Good (Saturday 4:16)

1. Got a little Ultimate Frisbee in today.
2. Vandy beat Darth Visor: 17-6
3. Bama stole Fulmer's donuts: 41-17
4. And all the while, wafts of hickory smoke pour into the house from the smoker which is perfecting tonight's ribs.

This week

1. Here are a few of the names of real people that I came across at work during the week:
Hoke Buchillon
Thames Pemberton - total Brittish fop name
Candaisy - "I want to name our little girl Candy." "Well I wanna name 'er Daisy." "I know, Can-daisy!"
Willie Nelson
Michael A. Fox - so close, yet so far.
Brown Brown - seriously, how do you come up with this name? Mental block?

2. I recently got the Heroes season 1 DVD set. I watched the "never seen before premiere/pilot episode". It's probably what they originally showed to the Peacock to sell the show. At least a half of it includes scenes that the audiences saw on Monday nights, but the rest varies from slightly to pretty different. For instance, the nuclear guy was originally a Muslim terrorist. The mind-reading cop's wife was played by a different person and instead of finding Molly after a Sylar attack, he located a Muslim terrorist hiding in the house. Also, Simon Mendez the speed-freak, painting Nostradamus saw off his hand in order to paint the destruction of NYC. It would have been interesting to see how it would have unfolded if they had followed the original script and cast.

This week

Just a couple of things going on at Jason's HQ:

1. I may have found the most boring job in the world: scanning documents at a law firm that specializes in going after people that owe money to credit card companies.

2. Heroes prediction: The white samuri Kensai will turn out to be Linderman from season 1.

3. I wore myself (and the guy covering me) out playing Ultimate last night.
