Taming the Dragon

On one of the few sunny and warm days that we had in the month of February, I joined some of Rufina's friends from church for a hike. We set off on the Dragon Back Mountain portion of the Hong Kong Trail on the southeast part of the island.

Most people don't realize that most of Hong Kong is actually mountains, not city- although they try to put city anywhere they can. To the left is an area called Stanley; there should be another post about it soon.

Some of our group hiking on a ridge overlooking a bay.

Just for you dad... proof that you can play golf in Hong Kong.

You can kinda make out some people and the trail (light brown) as it ascends one of the higher portions we hiked.

This is the group. Rufina wasn't feeling well that day, so she didn't go. I met up with all of these people that I didn't know, but they were really nice and I had a great time with them.

The little beach down there is Shek O. That is where we ended our hike and had a well deserved lunch. You might be able to see the trail if you look near the center of the picture and see the trace of light brown that goes down and then hooks left toward the beach.

Looking out at the surfers at Shek O beach.

It was a great trip. After seeing city for the first week of the trip, it was nice to get away from the hustle & bustle and see green mountains, bluish skies and sandy beaches.
