Soaking up the fun!

So maybe you've checked the blog for the past several days and haven't seen a new post... well, I there's a reason (or reasons). I have been busy have fun for the past week and haven't really had time to put anything new on the website, but that is about to change.
We start off with SONGKRAN.

Officially, Songkran is the celebration of the Thai New Year, but in reality it is 3+ days of water fights and partying. Basically, everything shuts down for 3 days, people drive or walk around the city dumping water on each other or spraying or sprinkling or whatever means they have of getting other people wet.
Above are the usual suspects getting ready for some action. Below, I am armed with my double-pump rifle.

Above, water-logged Jerod is in the middle of the masses. Below, a shirtless Cowboy, Wi and our newest team member prepare for water wars.

Above, Jerod, Wi, me and Ginny (the newest member of our crew) get ready for battle. Ginny was in town all week visiting and managed to get here just in time for Songkran. Below, a common site- kids in the back of a pickup with buckets of water. What you can't really see is that many of the buckets have blocks of ice in them, so when you get hit, you get COLD!

Above, after a long day of dumping or getting dumped (on), this kid figured he'd just relax in the bucket. Heck! He wasn't gonna get any wetter than he already was. Below, this is a taste of the traffic during Songkran. This is one of the roads I take everyday to go home; it's a 2 lane road, but they have turned it in to 4 lanes (3 lanes going to the moat where most of the action is and 1 heading away from the mess).

Stay tuned for more fun from the week...

City-Wide WATERFIGHT! What an awesome concept! Could you imagine downtown Greenville on a Friday or Saturday night like that?
