Peak Performance

Sorry, I'm a bit late on adding these.

As some of you know, the weather my first few days here was pretty fantastic. Previously, Hong Kong had been smothered in clouds and rain for about 3-4 weeks. So with the sun shining and the sky revealing seldom-seen shades of blue, it was time to head out doors.

On my first Saturday, I went hiking with my roommate Mike and his friend Katie. We ended up going to Dragon Back Mountain, which if you are an avid reader of my blog will sound familiar. In fact, you should click back to the previous post to compare just how much clearer it was on this hike.

We ended our journey at Shek O and ate at a Thai/Chinese restaurant. The Thai food was pretty authentic and good, especially the mango and sticky rice.

A day later, Rufina and I took a little excursion too. Last time I was in Hong Kong, I managed to make it up to The Peak, but Rufina was working that day, so we decided to make a trip together. We took a bus up the mountain (no crazy attempts to walk up the mountain like last time). We passed on taking the famous Peak Tram because we knew the line would be really long and we didn't care to spend an hour or more waiting. However, we did manage to snap a few shots with one of the old Peak Trams on display.

As you can see above, the Peak Tram has been running for more than 100 years. All aboard!


Here are a couple of shots of Rufina overlooking Hong Kong's central business districts (as if it all wasn't a business district). We hiked down the mountain into the Sojo district and had some tasty pizza.

And here is a shot of some of the same buildings from one of my trips on a ferry going across Victoria Harbor. The pictures probably don't do it justice, but as I was talking with my pastor here, he noted that he couldn't remember a time in his 7 years here, when the skies had been so blue.
